This pizza skillet is everything you love about a supreme pizza but without the crust, making it an easy low carb, scoopable dinner that everyone will love!
In a large ovenproof skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the sausage and cook, breaking it up, until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a bowl and set aside. Add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, oregano, salt, and crushed red pepper to the skillet. Cook, until starting to soften. Add the mushrooms and cook until everything is almost tender but not quite, about 4 minutes more. Return the sausage to the skillet and stir to combine. Scoop out 1/2 cup of the mixture and transfer to the bowl. Set aside. Add the pizza sauce to the skillet and cook until heated through, 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and spread the contents in an even layer. Turn on the broiler in your oven (middle rack). Sprinkle the mozzarella in an even layer over the skillet. Add the reserved sausage and vegetables on top, spacing them evenly like pizza toppings. Arrange the pepperoni on top. Transfer the skillet to the oven and broil until the pepperoni is curled and crispy and the cheese is deep golden brown, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Top with fresh basil and serve!
